Why we recommend it
Gamma saves you the step from bullet points to a presentable first deck, for example for proposals, internal updates or training. Exporting to PowerPoint with editable tables means you can keep working in your usual Office tools. The main limitation: all data is held in the US, and on the individual plans training on your content is switched on by default.
What it does
- The AI generates a complete deck with layout and images from a prompt, outline, PDF or PPTX, with up to 100 slides per prompt from Plus upwards.
- The agent revises single slides or the whole document in conversation, for example shortening, restructuring or translating.
- Export to PowerPoint (PPTX) with editable tables, plus PDF, PNG and Google Slides via PPTX.
- Custom themes with colours, fonts and logo are shared across the workspace; from Pro without Gamma branding and with custom domains.
- From Pro there is an API and analytics showing who viewed a shared presentation and for how long.

Data protection and law
- Gamma is a US company; hosting runs on AWS and Google, AI models via OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Google and other US providersH.
- The data processing addendum (DPA) forms part of the terms and includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses 2021/914H.
- On Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra your content may be used for training by default; you switch this off under Settings, Data Controls. On Business and Enterprise training is locked offH.
- Gamma states it is SOC 2 Type II compliant; the report is available on request from Business upwards. ISO 27001 certification is not statedH.
- Transfers to the US need a legal basis under Art. 44 ff. GDPR; the privacy policy does not mention the EU-US Data Privacy FrameworkR.
- Viewer analytics show who viewed what and for how long. If you use them to assess employees in Germany, the works council must be involved under Section 87(1) no. 6 BetrVGR.
Limits
- No EU data residency: for personal or confidential content Gamma is only defensible after careful review and with clear usage rules.
- The PPTX export does not always match the view in Gamma; effects, fonts and layouts often need rework in PowerPoint, and an existing slide master is not applied.
- The credit model makes costs hard to plan: images, long decks and better models use more, and admin controls are only available on Enterprise.
