Why we recommend it
Lovable suits a department that needs a small internal tool or a clickable prototype when no development capacity is available. You get something to test and show in hours rather than weeks. The main limitation: the generated app is only as secure as its access rules, and you have to check those yourself, or have them checked, before going live.
What it does
- You describe the app in chat; Lovable generates interface, logic and database and shows a live preview straight away.
- Lovable Cloud provides database, login, file storage and hosting built on Supabase; you choose the region per project.
- A security scan checks database configuration and row-level security rules on every publish; admins can block publishing on critical findings.
- Connectors link Microsoft 365, Salesforce and other services.
A workflow to copy
- 01StartDepartment describes an internal tool, e.g. a complaints log with status and owner
- 02AILovable generates interface, database and login in Lovable Cloud (Europe region)
- 03PersonDepartment tests with sample data and refines by prompt
- 04SystemSecurity scan checks row-level security and configuration
- 05CheckCritical findings or personal data involved?yes: IT reviews access rules, involves data protection and works council if needed
- 06PersonIT approves and publishes internally with SSO
- 07ResultTeam uses the tool; changes go through testing and scanning again
Prices
- Free: $0P; 5 credits per day, capped at 30 per month, no custom domain
- Pro: $25 per monthP for 100 credits, annually about $21 per monthP; custom domain, roles, credit top-ups
- Business: $50 per monthP for 100 credits, annually about $42 per monthP; SSO, DPA, no training on your data, design templates
- Enterprise: price on requestP; SCIM, audit logs, EU inference, publishing controls, dedicated support
- Larger allowances: Pro and Business scale up to 10,000 credits, then $2,250 or $4,300 per monthP
Billing is per workspace in US dollars, not per person; every plan allows unlimited members, and credits are consumed per prompt.
Data protection and law
- Lovable Cloud hosts data in Europe, the Americas or Asia Pacific; the region cannot be changed once enabled.H
- Business and Enterprise: data is not used for training; Free and Pro must actively opt out.H
- The DPA is only included on Business and Enterprise; transfers to the US rely on EU standard contractual clauses. The DPA carves 'Service Data' (usage data) out of the training ban – have this reviewed.R
- According to the DPA, Lovable maintains SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001; reports are only available on request under NDA.H
- Between 3 February and 20 April 2026, chat history and source code of public projects were readable by other Lovable users; Lovable acknowledged and fixed this on 22 April 2026.H
- As early as 2025, CVE-2025-48757 showed that many generated apps lacked row-level security in Supabase and exposed data.M
Limits
- Security is your responsibility: the scan helps, but it does not replace a review of access rules by someone with database expertise.
- For German organisations only sensible from Business upwards (DPA, no training); EU processing of AI requests requires Enterprise.
- Credits are hard to plan: debugging and many small changes eat into the allowance. If a tool you build evaluates employee behaviour or performance, the works council must be involved under Section 87(1) No. 6 BetrVG.
