Replit

A browser-based platform where an AI agent builds web and mobile apps from a description, including database, login and publishing.

Why we recommend it

Replit closes the gap between spreadsheet and IT project: a dashboard, a request form or a small internal tool takes an afternoon, with a real database and access control. Plan mode shows what the agent intends to build before it starts. Checkpoints let you undo steps.

What it does

  • The agent builds complete apps from descriptions, with plan mode, checkpoints and rollback.
  • Built-in PostgreSQL database, login, hosting, custom domains and one-click publishing.
  • Connectors to other services; with Enterprise also Snowflake, Databricks and BigQuery.
  • Pro: up to ten agents in parallel, 15 collaborators and 50 viewers, database rollback up to 28 days.
  • Enterprise: SSO, automatic user provisioning, audit logs, security scans and enforced private publishing.

Prices

  • Starter: free, with a limited daily agent allowance
  • Core: $18 a monthP annually, $20 monthly; includes $20 of credit
  • Pro: $90 a monthP annually, $100 monthly; includes $100 of credit
  • Enterprise: on request, no per-seat price

Agent work beyond the included credit is billed by effort. Budgets and hard spending caps can be set.

Data protection and law

  • Hosted on Google Cloud, mainly in the US. An EU region is available for published apps from Core, for the workspace only with Pro.H
  • Replit uses content to improve its models. Only Pro can switch this off; Enterprise content is never used.H
  • Data processing agreement with EU standard contractual clauses for Pro and Enterprise; SOC 2 Type 2.

Limits

  • Costs are hard to predict: according to The Register, one user spent about $1,000M in a week.
  • Autonomous agents make mistakes: in 2025 the agent deleted a user's production database during a test. Replit has since separated development and production data.M
  • Apps stay tied to Replit's hosting, and generated code still needs maintenance.
