Why we recommend it

Runway is the tool for teams that need moving images fast for campaigns, concepts or B-roll: variants from text or an image, edits to a whole clip through a single frame, brand kits for a consistent look. Since September 2026 there has been a Team plan and plugins for Premiere Pro and After Effects.

What it does

  • Gen-4.5 generates video from text or an image, with sound; plus third-party models such as Veo 3.1.
  • Aleph 2.0: a change to one frame carries through the whole clip.
  • Act-Two transfers facial expressions and movement; custom voices after recorded consent.
  • Brand kits and references for a consistent look, plus an agent for recurring workflows.
  • Plugins for Premiere Pro and After Effects, API and MCP; 4K upscaling, ProRes and HDR.

  • Standard: $12 a monthP annually, $15 monthly; 625 credits, which works out at about 52 seconds of Gen-4.5

  • Max: $76 a monthP annually, $95 monthly; 9,500 credits
  • Team: $55 per seat per monthP annually, $69 monthly; 2 to 9 seats, API access

Since September 2026, Standard, Pro and Max are single-user plans; teams use the Team plan.

Data protection and law

  • SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. Runway does not name its regions, and we found no EU option.H
  • The general terms allow training on inputs and outputs; the Enterprise terms exclude it.H
  • Other people's faces or voices only with permission; voice clones require recorded consent.
  • According to Runway, it adds C2PA provenance data. You still have to disclose deepfakes yourself (Art. 50(4) AI Act).R

Limits

  • Credits run out quickly; good results take several attempts.
  • Confidential material belongs only in Enterprise, because the general terms allow training.
  • Runway is a defendant in an ongoing US copyright case (Andersen v. Stability AI).M
