Why we recommend it

For export-oriented companies, DeepL is often the quickest win: contracts, manuals and presentations are translated with their layout intact, and glossaries keep technical terms consistent. Since September 2026 you can also use DeepL via MCP directly in Copilot, ChatGPT or Claude.

  • Free: no charge; 50,000 characters and one document a month
  • Individual: €6.29 a month netP billed annually (€7.49 incl. VAT)
  • Team: €21 net per user per monthP annually (€24.99 incl. VAT); 1 million characters, 20 documents, 5 glossaries
  • Business: €42 net per user per monthP annually (€49.99 incl. VAT); characters under fair use, 100 documents, translation memory
  • Enterprise: on request

DeepL shows German prices including VAT; the net amounts are rounded. Monthly billing costs about 16 per cent more.

Data protection and law

  • Paid plans: texts are deleted after processing and not used for training. The free version uses texts for training, so personal data does not belong there.H
  • Since 20 May 2026, DeepL has also processed data in AWS regions outside the EU by default, including the US. Fixed EU processing is available with Enterprise or for an extra fee.M
  • Since 6 October 2026, DeepL has offered an EU-hosted service for the DACH region, France and EU institutions.H
  • Certifications according to the vendor: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, BSI C5 Type 2.

Limits

  • EU-only processing is no longer the default; if you need it, negotiate Enterprise or an add-on contract.
  • “Unlimited” on Business means fair use, and document quotas on smaller plans are tight.
  • Block the free version for work use, otherwise company texts end up in training.
