Why we recommend it
For sales and customer calls, Granola is the most pleasant tool of its kind: no bot in the participant list, your own notes stay the backbone, and action items and a follow-up draft come automatically. For German companies, though: it does not work without informing participants and clearing it with the works council.

Data protection and law
- Data is stored on AWS in the US; Granola says it does not offer EU data residency.H
- Audio is deleted after transcription; transcripts stay until a deletion period applies.
- Free and Business: anonymised data is used for training by default, which can be switched off. Enterprise is excluded by default.H
- Standard data processing agreement with EU standard contractual clauses; SOC 2 Type II.
- Section 201 of the German Criminal Code: even automated transcription can breach the confidentiality of the spoken word if audio is technically recorded. Inform everyone in advance and allow objections.R
- Section 87(1) no. 6 of the Works Constitution Act: being objectively suitable for monitoring is enough to trigger co-determination. Plan for a works agreement.R
Limits
- No EU data residency.
- Invisible to others unless the transparency features are switched on; only Enterprise can enforce them centrally.
- With no audio kept, a transcript cannot be checked against the recording.
